How a Pea Pod Inspired One of My Favorite Designs
Sometimes, the pieces we create years ago still feel as fresh and meaningful as the day we first imagined them.
One of my favorite designs from the early days of my jewelry journey was inspired by something completely ordinary—a pea pod from my garden. I remember the moment clearly: I had just picked a pod that had started to split open. Inside, the peas were arranged in a perfect row, curved gently in their natural cradle. It was simple, delicate, and effortlessly balanced.
That small detail caught my eye and wouldn’t let go. I snapped a close-up photo of the pod, those soft green spheres spilling out ever so slightly. There was something undeniably sculptural about it—organic repetition, a protective shell, a feeling of quiet beauty.
Back in the studio, I sketched an early concept of how this form might translate into a piece of jewelry. The idea was to capture that same rhythm and natural curve, while giving it new life as something wearable.
That sketch eventually became a piece that still lives in my collection today. It’s become a quiet favorite—one that resonates with customers who love the way nature can be both playful and elegant. Looking back, this design reminds me how powerful it can be to stay connected to the world around me.
I’ve always believed that inspiration doesn’t have to be loud or dramatic. Often, it’s found in fleeting moments—something growing in the garden, the curve of a leaf, the texture of a stone. My environment plays a constant role in shaping my creative process, and pieces like this one are a reflection of that.
Years later, this design still brings me joy—not just for how it looks, but for what it represents: a moment of curiosity, a connection to nature, and the reminder that creativity often starts with simply paying attention.
